URGENT CALL OUT: Ask The NSW Govt To Say No to Shark Nets

Tuesday, 10 Jun, 2025

The NSW Government is on the brink of deciding the future of shark nets—and time is running out.

If they don’t take action this month, these outdated and harmful nets could remain in place for years, trapping and drowning countless marine animals.

Shark nets and drumlines create a false sense of security, failing to reduce shark bite risk. In fact, they may even attract sharks by providing bycatch as food. Modern, science-backed alternatives offer far safer and more effective solutions.

The government needs to hear from all of us—every voice counts. Whether you're a NSW resident or not, speaking up can make a difference.

Contact Agriculture Minister Tara Moriarty today and demand an end to shark nets: https://www.seashepherd.org.au/nets-out-nsw/

Our last and best chance is now. MPs track calls, emails, and letters—they know when an issue matters. Beachgoers, councils, scientists, and conservationists have spoken, but the Minns Government still hasn’t gotten the message. Let’s make sure they do. The NSW Government needs to make a call.

So, we’re asking you to make one. Speak up. Take action before it’s too late.

Optional - If you want to double your impact, you can always call the Ministers in the NSW Government on this issue. Contact details can be found here.
