When communities come together, incredible things happen!

Tuesday, 30 Jun, 2026

In June, our amazing Sea Shepherd volunteers hosted 24 fundraising stalls and 7 beach clean-ups across Australia!

At Sea Shepherd Australia, it's the passion and dedication of our onshore volunteers and supportive community that keeps our campaigns running at sea, defending, conserving and protecting the ocean.

COMMUNITY CLEAN-UPS!

Our onshore volunteers joined forces with members of their communities to remove plastic pollution from local beaches and waterways.

One of our biggest highlights was our Melbourne crew partnering with Patagonia in Geelong, teaming up to remove 5,237 pieces of debris across Avalon Beach and Geelong. At Avalon Beach alone, the crew removed 3,151 items, and in Geelong 603 cigarette butts were collected. A huge thank you to the Patagonia team for this incredible effort!

In Perth, our team tackled O'Connor Beach South, removing 539 items of rubbish from the coastline. Over in Sydney, volunteers headed to Balmoral Beach and cleared 6kg of litter from just 800m of coastline.

On the Mornington Peninsula, an incredible 2,378 pieces of debris were removed from McCrae Beach and in Newcastle, volunteers and community members spent the afternoon at Newcastle Beach, removing 1,770 pieces of marine debris. In Canberra, volunteers covered 1.7km at Black Mountain Reserve, removing 836 pieces of litter!

Thank you to every volunteer and member of the public who showed up to take direct action against plastic pollution on our coastlines!

None of this would be possible without the passion and dedication of our onshore volunteers and the incredible community behind us. It's this support that keeps our campaigns running at sea — defending, conserving, and protecting our ocean. Thank you to everyone who made this possible!
